The Snow Cam Setup - The Snow Cam is comprised of a D-Link DCS-920 Internet Cam, which is housed in an airtight 6x6x8" Electrical Junction Box, heated by a small pipe heater. Atop the Junction Box is a Solar Powered LED flood light, which provides enough light to illuminate the Snow Stake and allows visible light for night time imaging. The entire apparatus is mounted atop of a standard Steel T type fence post and is located at a height of 5 feet and 9 feet from the base of the snow stake. The Snow Stake was constructed from a 4x4x6 piece of PVC Fence post cover. It was primed white, then the black striping was added to create one inch increments all the way up to 48 inches. 2 inch vinyl numbers where then applied at appropriate heights.
